ITR's core business is helping companies design, implement, and improve PdM processes through the use of predictive technologies. By applying an overall process and system approach, organizations ensure PdM activities are aligned with process objectives and limited resources are put to the best use.

PdM Process Design

ITR helps companies ensure all critical PdM process elements are implemented and common pitfalls are avoided.

Process design considerations include:
  • Aligning assets and technologies
  • Analyzing criticality and risk
  • Planning data acquisition and analysis and building asset databases
  • Allocating maintenance and reliability resources
  • Taking preventive and corrective action
  • Verify and measuring effectiveness

Experience has shown effective PdM process design is often the difference between success and failure. Focus on PdM process management also helps organizations drive continual improvement.

Applications Engineering

Dedicated monitoring solutions need careful planning to ensure resources are not wasted and PdM objectives are achieved. ITR engineers work with companies to identify desired outcomes, propose cost-justified solutions, and assist with equipment installations and commissioning. These services are often provided at no charge to ITR customers as part an ongoing PdM partnership.

Applications often include:
  • Specialized critical asset parameter monitoring (e.g. vibration, speed, load, temperature, humidity);
  • Environmental and installation constraints (e.g. harsh environments);
  • Safety and accessibility constraints;
  • Asset to pulpit/control room connectivity constraints.

Every application is different, but the ITR engineering team has designed, developed and implemented specialized condition monitoring solutions across most major industries.

PdM Monitoring and Analysis Reliability Analytics

Abundant data means reliability professionals now have the ability to perform process performance analysis against measurable objectives that was previously difficult. Common key performance indicators, such as mean time between failures, avoidance of machine failures by severity, and resource utilization efficiency, are usually easily available with well-planned process design.

ITR works with partners to collate PdM process performance data, monitor performance, and identify opportunities for improvement. ITR also assists customers with preparing cost-benefit analyses to communicate PdM process effectiveness within their organizations.

Advanced Condition Monitoring Studies
Success depends on three factors:
  • Effective data acquisition and signal processing
  • Competent data analysis
  • Adequate knowledge regarding the asset and the operation.

ITR engineers have been conducting and continually improving advanced condition monitoring studies for over 30 years. As technology continues to improve, new tools are verified, validated and applied to these studies. Measured parameters are often speed, vibration, temperature, pressure, strain, torque, and other process inputs available via process control systems.

Some common studies include:
  • Operating deflection shape studies
  • Bode plot and critical speed identification
  • Modal and resonance studies
  • 3rd and 5th octave chatter studies
  • Large industrial vehicle commissioning
  • Commissioning new and repaired assets
  • Slow speed electro-mechanical studies
  • Remote wireless data acquisition
  • Baseline and acceptance testing
